Genuine Samsung DG94-00449A Oven Gas Safety Valve with Regulator
A gas oven that suddenly stops heating is usually a fuel problem, not a control problem. The Samsung DG94-00449A is the safety valve and pressure regulator assembly that decides when gas reaches your oven's bake and broil burners. When it sticks closed, the display, lights and timer all work normally, but the oven stays cold. This is the original Samsung part, built to the same specs as the valve your range shipped with.
How the Oven Safety Valve Works
- You set a bake or broil temperature, and the control board sends power to the oven igniter.
- As the igniter heats up, it draws more and more current.
- Once that current reaches the right level, the safety valve opens.
- Gas flows to the burner, and the hot igniter lights it.
The built-in regulator keeps the gas pressure steady the whole time, so the flame stays even. If the valve can't open, or the igniter never reaches full current, the burner never gets gas.
Symptoms That Point to This Part
- Oven stays cold on both bake and broil
- Igniter glows, but you never hear the burner light
- Preheat takes far longer than it used to, or the oven never gets up to temperature
- Cooktop burners light normally, but the oven doesn't
Check the Igniter First
Before you replace the valve, rule out the igniter. Igniters weaken with age. A worn one can still glow orange without drawing enough current to open the valve, and that looks exactly like a bad valve. If your range is a few years old and the igniter has never been replaced, the Samsung DG94-00520A oven igniter is the usual first fix. Many technicians replace both parts in the same visit. Before You Install
- Unplug the range and shut off the gas at the supply valve.
- Take a photo of the old valve's gas lines and wire connections before you remove anything.
- Compare the part number on your old valve to DG94-00449A.
- After installing, brush soapy water on every gas fitting. Bubbles mean a leak, so tighten the fitting and test again before you light the oven.
Gas work carries real risk. If you're not confident making gas connections, have a licensed appliance technician do the install.

DG94-00449A Questions and Answers
Why does my Samsung gas oven not heat when the stovetop works fine?
The oven and the cooktop have separate gas controls. If only the oven fails, the cause is usually the oven igniter or this safety valve, not your gas supply.
Can I replace the safety valve myself?
Many handy owners do. You'll need basic tools, the gas shut off, and a leak test when you're done. If you aren't comfortable with gas fittings, hire a licensed technician.
Should I replace the igniter at the same time?
If the igniter is original to the range, it's worth considering. A weak igniter is the most common reason the valve won't open, and replacing both avoids a second repair.
Is this an aftermarket or OEM valve?
It's a genuine Samsung OEM part, the same valve installed at the factory.
