Frigidaire 809069220 Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor
A side-by-side refrigerator can have a perfectly good compressor and still run warm if the cold air isn't being moved where it needs to go. That job belongs to the evaporator fan. The Frigidaire 809069220 is the original-equipment evaporator fan motor for many Frigidaire, Electrolux, Kenmore, Crosley and White-Westinghouse refrigerators, and it supersedes 241509402, 241509401 and 7241509402.
Why This Small Motor Matters
All of your refrigerator's cold air starts at the evaporator coils, hidden behind the back wall of the freezer. The evaporator fan pulls air across those frozen coils, then pushes it through the freezer and up a duct into the fresh-food side. When the motor slows down or stops, the freezer may still feel cold near the back, but very little cold air reaches the refrigerator section.
What Shoppers Usually Notice
| Symptom | What It Usually Means |
|---|---|
| Refrigerator warm, freezer still cold | Air isn't being pushed into the fresh-food section |
| Squeal or chirp that gets louder when the freezer door opens | Worn motor bearings |
| Grinding or ticking from the freezer wall | Fan blade hitting ice or a failing motor |
| No airflow from the refrigerator vents | Fan has stopped or is blocked |
| Both sections slowly warming | Fan is running weakly or not at all |
Three Checks Before Ordering
- Door switch test: the fan shuts off when the freezer door opens. Hold the freezer door switch in and listen. If the fan doesn't start, the motor is likely bad.
- Ice check: a blade frozen in ice points to a defrost problem, not a bad motor.
- Blade check: a cracked or loose blade can rattle even when the motor is fine.

809069220 FAQs
Why does my refrigerator get warm while the freezer stays cold?
Cold air is made in the freezer and blown into the refrigerator by the evaporator fan. If the fan stops, the refrigerator side warms up first. A failed fan motor is a frequent cause, though frost blocking the airflow can do the same thing.
Why does the noise change when I open the freezer door?
The evaporator fan turns off when the door opens. If a squeal or chirp stops or changes as soon as you open the door, the fan motor is almost certainly the source.
Is 241509402 still available?
241509402 has been superseded by 809069220, which is the correct replacement.
Do I need a new fan blade too?
Usually not. The 809069220 is the motor only, and your existing blade moves over to the new shaft. Replace the blade only if it's cracked or warped.
Will it fit my Crosley or Kenmore refrigerator?
It fits Crosley CFD26SDS0, CFD26WIS0 and CFD26WIS1, Kenmore 253-series side-by-side models, and many Frigidaire and Electrolux side-by-sides. Call us with your model number if you'd like us to confirm.
What part numbers does 809069220 supersede?
