GE, along with its Hotpoint and Sears-Kenmore brands, provides a range of microwave products, including a control board that acts as the central processor, governing essential microwave operations. If your microwave is showing error codes or not starting, it may be necessary to replace this component. This process is typically uncomplicated.
Begin by switching off the relevant circuit breakers for the microwave. Open the microwave door and remove the screws that secure the front vent. Use a putty knife with care to gently remove the vent. Proceed by unscrewing and lifting the control assembly to detach it, making note of the wiring connections to the control board, which will then need to be disconnected. Remove the assembly and unscrew the four fasteners holding the control board. Disconnect the ribbon connector and take out the old board.
For the new board installation, position it accurately on the mounting plate and fix it in place with screws. Reattach the wires to their designated terminals. Lastly, reposition the control assembly and replace the front vent.
This original equipment manufacturer (OEM) control board is designed to fit GE, RCA, and Hotpoint microwave models.
